How WindtracX Harnesses Wind Power for Maritime Propulsion

WindTracX utilizes an innovative Aero Kite-Drone system that flies over 250 m above sea level, where wind is more abundant, stable and strong.

It works in the same way as a soft kite with these futures:

  • From storage to operation at 250 m altitude in few minutes
  • It can deploy even if there is no wind at the sea level thanks to its active system.
  • It operates in a large range of wind direction thanks to its rigid structure
  • It operates efficiently in turbulent conditions
  • In storage the wings are folded for a minimum necessary space over the deck
  • During Docking the hangar is rotated outside the deck to leave all the necessary space for working.

Ground Structure

The ground structure includes essential components such as the connection base, support structure, hangar, winch, take-off/landing rod, vertical slewing ring, onboard computer, and sensors, enabling smooth system operation.

aero Kite Drone

The drone utilizes a biplane structure with aerodynamic appendages, electric motors for propulsion, advanced sensors for monitoring, and a redundant system for safety, all controlled autonomously for optimal flight.

Connection Tether

The connection cable is made of Dyneema, a durable, weather-resistant material. Its small diameter ensures minimal drag, allowing for optimal performance and stability even at higher altitudes, maximizing wind energy capture.
